Governor Drives in Probox to Meet Uhuru

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong on Wednesday caught the attention of many after an image of him being chauffeured inside a Probox (Toyota model) to a Presidential function emerged online.

The Governor was reportedly headed for a meeting at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County, where President Uhuru Kenyatta was opening a two-day conference bringing together the National Government and County Governors.

The photo of Governor Ojaamong inside the probox surprised Twitter fraternity as the Government presumably offers top range vehicles to the County Heads.

Governors and other senior Government officials in Kenya often drive in the so called fuel guzzlers, hence the buzz sparked by the picture of Ojaamong in the country's most ridiculed vehicle.

At the said conference, President Kenyatta held a closed-door meeting with the Governors where Journalists were locked out.

The issues set for discussion were reportedly; public service management, pensions and promotions, free maternity and health insurance, privatisation of public sugar millers, procurement, verification of assets to be transferred to counties and other devolution matters.

The meeting referred to as the National and County Government Coordinating Summit, is the fifth since President Kenyatta took power in 2013.

The Head of State is expected to set camp in the Central region for a few weeks where he will tour various regions as well as meet with area leaders.
