Governor Escapes Death As Bottles Of Alcohol Explode

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo had a close encounter with death after bottles containing illicit alcohol exploded. 

Kabogo and other officials were setting fire to the illicit brew nabbed in Thika.

The incident had the crowd running for dear life, KTN reports.

The fight against illicit brew has been intensified countrywide in an attempt to destroy all second generation brews.

Some alcoholics have found it hard to cope following the crackdown.

Reports indicate that many have been hospitalized with others dying from withdrawal.

Kiambu County has set up 13 centers that will provide rehabilitation support to recovering addicts in an attempt to help those affected.

Elsewhere in Murang'a County hundreds of youth risked cuts and bruises as they walked on broken glass looking for left over brew following a raid in bar in Maragi village.

The youth are said to have waited until the police left after the raid before storming into the makeshift bar and taking whatever brew they could find.

The Star reports that they scrambled each wanting to get to the booze that wasn’t destroyed.
