Governor Kidero Attacked by Kenyans

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was attacked on Monday by Kenyans on Twitter over the increase in garbage and filthy scenes in the Capital’s Central Business District and in various parts of the county.

The Governor was accused of watering down developments made in the “glorified” City by turning it into a garbage den in less than five years. Photos emerged showing how Nairobi looked like in 1985 and many compared it to scenes of crowded matatu-filled streets across the city.

Other Kenyans however, defended Dr Kidero saying it was the responsibility of Nairobians to ensure they threw litter in designated garbage points and bins.

This comes almost five months after the County announced that it would have an automated garbage collection system developed by Technology Company, IBM,  to ensure efficient collection of trash. County Executive Evans Ondieki, acknowleged that the County had spent over Sh300 Million in improving garbage collection but had failed in the Job thus had to seek for help from IBM.

The results of the enhanced garbage collection system is however yet to be seen in the City thus sparked the online debate further.

Here are some of the comments from Kenyans on Twitter:

Instead of making noise on Twitter, make an effort to not trash your city. Go back and pick up your trash. #KideroFailedNairobi
