Government Waives Survey and Registration Fees for all Schools in Kenya

The government has waived survey and registration fees for land owned by schools in the country to enable them get title deeds.

Speaking in Njukini, Taita-Taveta County on Tuesday, Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi stated that the move would ensure land belonging to schools is no longer grabbed by individuals.

Prof. Kaimenyi noted that most schools in the country had no title deeds, a situation that had given some individuals opportunity steal the land and change the documents to indicate that they were the owners.

The CS also ordered school principals to stop charging parents money to pay for the title deeds henceforth.

Kaimenyi’s announcement comes hours after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i divulged on Monday that some senior politicians were being investigated for allegedly grabbing school land.

Matiang’i stated that action would be taken if any of the politicians linked to grabbing of school land is found guilty.

“The government will not sit and watch as individuals ruin the future of Kenyan children by grabbing land,” the Education CS said.

The Education CS had expressed concern over the increasing grabbing of public school land in the country.
