Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti's House in Nairobi Raided

Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti's home in Karen, Nairobi, was Tuesday night raided by criminals who posed as officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, an officer divulged that the gang made away with Sh400,000, jewellery and property of unknown value.

"The gang seems to have colluded with someone familiar with the home... they walked straight to the room where the money was kept and carried the briefcase," the officer disclosed.

The officer stated that the Governor and his family were not at home, adding that most times the house was occupied by his relatives.

Following the incident, police arrested two employees at the Governor's residence who are suspected to have colluded with the criminals.

The incident comes barely a week after the palatial house of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi located in Nyali, Mombasa County was raided by unknown gangsters.

The suspected thugs are said to have made away with property of unknown value but didn’t harm the governor and his family who were asleep during the incident.

Mr Kingi reported the incident to Nyali Police Station and urged the officers to conduct speedy investigations into the matter.
