The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has made public the number of newly registered voters, with less than two weeks remaining to the end of the registration exercise.
The electoral body Thursday announced that their clerks around the country had so far managed to net 563,194 new voters only.
According to IEBC, it had registered 310,300 voters in the second week, which was an improvement from the previous week's 251,894 record.
While releasing the data, IEBC expressed concern over numerous cases of voter transfer and chaotic scenes, which had marred the exercise in a few regions, urging security agencies to act expeditiously to protect their staff and potential voters from intimidation.
In the first week of the exercise, the body stated that the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) had beaten rival coalition the Jubilee, in new voters registered within their strongholds.
In the IEBC records, Siaya County had registered 15,689 voters, Migori (9,039), Homa Bay (10,404) and Kisumu managed to get 12,631 in the first week.
However, Jubilee's highest records were in Kirinyaga County which registered 4,592 voters, Kiambu with 13,637 new electorates while Nakuru and Nyandarua managed to get 11,934 and 5,020 new voters respectively.
The low voter registration has raised fears that the electoral body could fail to meet its target of netting four million new voters by the end of the exercise on March 15.
