Impeach Uhuru to Solve Your Problems, Kenyans Told

CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has reiterated that the only solution to the problems facing the country is to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Musyoka, who was speaking at the opening of Wiper Party's Nairobi offices, said that the ruling regime had taken up a tendency of cultivating impunity and defiance to honour court orders.

"The time has come for Kenyans to unite and remove Jubilee from power. This should start with the impeachment motion against the President so that impunity can be dealt with,” Kalonzo said.

He criticized the government for trying to victimise leaders who point out its weaknesses together with the rampant corruption that had been reported in various Ministries and State organs.

The Wiper Leader further said that the proposed referendum drive under the Okoa Kenya manifesto was still on and the country should be ready for it from February next year.

However, while addressing a congregation at Bahati PCEA Church in Nairobi, Deputy President William Ruto disregarded the impeachment motion saying that it would work to the advantage of the Jubilee coalition who have a majority vote in the National Assembly.

The DP accused CORD of trying to use shortcuts to ascend to power.

"You cannot use shortcuts to solve challenges like teachers' pay." Ruto said.

He equated the motion with the Solidarity Account meant to solicit money from Kenyans to pay teachers terming the move ridiculous.

“This whole hullabaloo about impeachment of the President is as ridiculous as planning a harambee (fundraiser) to pay teachers," Ruto stated

In the recent days, the CORD coalition has hit hard at the government for failing to obey the court's ruling awarding teachers a 50-60 per cent pay increase.

The Opposition has continued to pounce on the education crisis and corruption claims reported at the National Youth Service (NYS) to drive its government criticism home.
