Police officers have netted a huge cache of weapons hidden at a house in Nairobi and arrested two suspects of Indian origin.
Zahid Iqbal and Rehan Kantilal were nabbed during an early morning raid by police on their house in Jana estate along Jogoo Road, where 10 guns and over 2000 rounds of ammunition were seized.
Narcotics Unit Commandant Hamisi Massa said the suspects who had earlier on been nabbed with narcotics led his detectives to another residence, where the weapons were recovered but added that further investigations were ongoing.
“We are still investigating and cannot divulge much information,” Mr Massa divulged.
The two were locked up at Parklands and Muthaiga Police Stations as preliminary probes did not reveal the source of the weapons.
This comes as security agencies have stepped up the fight against armed robberies, with several suspects being gunned down across the country in the recent past.
Last month, five armed gangsters were killed along Thika Superhighway after they shot at officers who were trailing them after a botched robbery.
