Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo Quits Jubilee for Party of Development and Reforms (PDR).

Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo on Wednesday decamped from the Jubilee Party to the Party of Development and Reforms (PDR).

The Governor stated that he quit Jubilee due to concerns over party structures and transparency, especially at the county level during the primaries.

"I was concerned over mechanisms put in place to manage party affairs, especially in Isiolo County,” Governor Doyo told a local daily.

He mentioned that he had decamped alongside five other Jubilee Party aspirants in Isiolo to join PDR.

The Governor also stated that he quit the party as he was not comfortable with Jubilee's policy of subjecting incumbent Governors to nominations.

"We (Jubilee governors) had suggested that it was not fair to treat the incumbents the same way as other aspirants who are not busy managing the affairs of the counties," Doyo stated.

The Isiolo Gubernatorial race has attracted several aspirants; incumbent Governor Doyo, Isiolo Senator Mohammed Kuti, Deputy Governor Mohammed Guleid
former Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority chairman Abdul Bahari.

Governor Doyo was to square it out with three other contestants in the Jubilee nominations on Friday but will now face the winner in the August polls.

In 2013, Governor Doyo was elected on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket
