Jubilee Chairman and Secretary General in Murang'a County Kicked out of Party Over Bribery Allegations

Interim Jubilee chairman in Murang’a County Mr Simon Kamau Gikuru and Secretary-General Samuel Macharia have been kicked out of the party after it was discovered they were soliciting bribes from aspirants.

Mr Gikuru and Macharia were relinquished of their positions after leaders of Jubilee Party produced damning evidence to prove the allegations that they were taking bribes to accord some aspirants favours during the nomination process.

Nine members of the ruling coalition ratified the sacking and immediately picked Ms Jane Wanjiru Muiga as the new branch chairman and Mr Joel Irungu as the Secretary General.

Mr Irungu said that they would follow President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive to ensure that no candidate is favoured during the party primaries.

"We are committed to ensuring free, fair and transparent nominations," Irungu stated.

He also warned that no official in Jubilee will be spared if they contravene what has been agreed by the Jubilee secretariat.

However, Mr Macharia has maintained that he did not receive any money from Jubilee aspirants.
