Jubilee Dismisses Uhuru's Impeachment Motion

Jubilee legislators have dismissed plans to introduce an impeachment motion against President Uhuru Kenyatta by Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are.

Led by Majority Leader in the Senate Kithure Kindiki, the leaders claimed that Mong'are, who has announced his presidential bid was sponsoring the motion to gain fame.

Kindiki said the reason behind the motion was flimsy since Mong'are claimed that President Kenyatta had failed to mitigate the ongoing doctor's strike.

“He is just seeking publicity to enhance his misplaced presidential ambitions. Saying the President has not tried to resolve the doctors’ strike is a lie,” he said.

The Nyamira Senator had claimed that close to 10 Jubilee Members of Parliament (MP) were ready to support the motion once tabled in the House.

The Jubilee legislators, however, highlighted that they were not interested and would not waste time backing the Bill.

“Getting one lawmaker who is ready to waste Parliament’s time with such a motion is a tall order,” stated the Tharaka Nithi Senator.

On his part, Starehe MP Maina Kamanda urged Mong'are to concentrate on his presidential bid rather that use Kenyatta to seek votes.

“The senator is a joker and a day dreamer. What has he done in the Senate to think he can remove the President?” affirmed Kamanda.

Senator Mong'are has been criticising the Head of State blaming him for doing little to end the suffering caused by the doctors' strike.
