Jubilee National Elections Board Clarifies Key Issues in the Ongoing Nominations

The Jubilee National Elections Board (NEB) has clarified key issues regarding the ongoing Primaries in the country.

Speaking during a presser at the Jubilee headquarters, the party Secretary General, Mr Raphael Tuju, stated that polling stations should not be closed at 5 pm as long as party members are in the queue.

"The polling stations should not close at 5 pm as long as people are in the queue waiting to vote because the exercise started late today," he stated

Mr Tuju also assured party supporters that the primaries from tomorrow would strictly kick off at 7 am to avoid the late closures of the polling stations.

He further refuted claims that the party had disqualified some aspirants from undertaking in the nominations process, allegations that had been circulating on social media.

"Kenyans are creative in making propaganda and we want to assure all aspirants that we have not disqualified anyone unlike rumors going on the social media," Tuju emphasised.

The Board's Chairman, Andrew Musangi, reiterated Tuju's sentiments indicating that they expect the process to be smooth and clarified that the problem in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, had been fixed and the nomination process would continue as planned.

"The reprinting of the ballot papers has been done and we have flown extra ballot papers and that will be in Kirinyaga in one hour and that the election will continue as planned," he stated.

Earlier in the day, Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary and Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant Anne Waiguru had issued a one-hour ultimatum to the Jubilee Party officials over delayed voting in the county.

Speaking in Kirinyaga, Ms Waiguru stated: “We demand that the headquarters deliver enough ballot papers right now. Let them use the helicopters. They need to come quickly. We don't care whether ballot papers are black and white or coloured.”

Meanwhile, Jubilee has postponed nominations in Murang'a to Wednesday, April 26.
