Jubilee Nominations to Be Held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

The Jubilee Party has announced that its nominations will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

The Party on Saturday further stated that the preparation of the primaries would be overseen by Deputy President William Ruto who was camping at the Pangani headquarters.

Jubilee on Friday cancelled the primaries countrywide after the exercise was marred by chaos over inadequate ballot papers in almost all polling stations.

Earlier in the day, President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with the party officials at State House after which he issued a press conference regarding the bungled exercise.

During the address, Kenyatta apologised for the cancellation of the exercise blaming it on under-preparedness of his team.

He explained that the party had been overwhelmed by the high turnout of its supporters that caused inadequacy of ballot papers in almost all the polling centres.

"Nobody expected the kind of turnout that we witnessed yesterday. We were hit with a shortage of voting materials. We have taken that into account to ensure every single registered voter will have an opportunity to participate in the rescheduled primaries," Uhuru stated.

Kenyatta announced that the party was remapping the entire process taking into account the massive turnout experienced yesterday.

He also divulged that a detailed and revised primaries timetable would be issued by the parties headquarters in accordance with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) timelines.
