Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju Cancels Nominations Countrywide

The Jubilee Party has cancelled the ongoing nominations countrywide.

Announcing the decision on Friday evening, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju stated that the exercise would begin afresh next week.

He noted that the Party would release a new schedule for the exercise on Saturday adding that new ballot papers were in the process of being printed.

The party further ordered all voting processes and the tallying that was ongoing in some centres to be stopped immediately.

Earlier, Jubilee had cancelled the polls in 17 counties including Nandi, Kericho, Baringo, Bomet, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Embu, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Narok, Kiambu, Murang'a, Nyeri, Laikipia, Meru, Nyandarua and Kajiado.

Tuju expressed regret that the exercise had been faced with the difficulties which led to the cancellation of the primaries.

This followed an outcry from supporters and aspirants over the lack of enough voting material compared to the number of registered voters.

The primaries had been marred by chaotic scenes with voters who turned up at different polling stations expressing discord after failing to participate in the voting.
