Junda MCA Paul Onje Attacked by Rowdy Youth

Junda Member of County Assembly (MCA) Paul Onje suffered head and back injuries after he was attacked by more than a 100 youth armed with stones and clubs during the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries in Mombasa.

Speaking at the Agha Khan Hospital, the MCA stated that the youth attacked him when he raised questions on why polls in his stronghold were delayed.

"There was a scuffle over the register to be used at AIC Church, which is my stronghold. When I rushed to check, I was attacked by youth who told me to go and vie in Kisumu," Onje stated. 

Mombasa leaders including Speaker Thadius Rajwayi, MCAs Jabez Oduor (Kongowea) and Dan Onyango visited the injured colleague in hospital.

Onje called on ODM to take action against all those involved in the attack.

Elsewhere Changamwe Member of Parliament Omar Mwinyi was arrested after he led his supporters in destroying voting materials at Bomu polling station.

This was after he found out his name was missing from the party register.
