KANU Chairman Gideon Moi Attacks Uhuru's Jubilee Government Over Insecurity in Baringo

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has attacked the Jubilee Government for the first time since the KANU Party endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid two days ago.

He expressed dissatisfaction on how the government was handling the insecurity in Baringo County.

Moi was responding to the latest attacks in the county that left 2 people dead and 600 livestock stolen.

The Senator questioned why the attacks should continue when a security operation is in place with well-equipped police officers.

He demanded that the government should come clean on the security operation and clarify if it is a Public Relations (PR) gimmick.

Moi was speaking after residents of Baringo held demonstrations in Mochongoi demanding that the government should assure them of their security.

This came after numerous attacks that have left many killed, property destroyed and livestock stolen.

Led by their group leader Kipruto Kimosop, the residents expressed that they had been raising the issue of security for decades without a solution.

Insecurity in the Baringo region could be a hurdle for the Jubilee government as it seeks votes in the area which has borne the brunt of sporadic bandit attacks for years.
