Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Has Been Summoned to Appear In Court on Monday

Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has been summoned to appear in court after he failed to turn up for the hearing of a case where he is accused of forging his academic papers.

Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi today ordered the lawmaker to show up in court on Monday next week to explain why his bond terms should not be cancelled.

The Judge noted that Mr Sudi was aware that his case was coming up and three days had been taken out by consent of all parties for hearing.

He further indicated that the explanation given by his lawyer Thomas Ruto had not convinced the court to stop issuing the summons against the accused.

Sudi's lawyer had told the court that the accused had written a letter to the court seeking to be allowed to attend the ongoing party primaries.

“The court has been forced to stand down a witness who has travelled all the way from Bungoma to testify in this case,” the court ruled.

The MP was charged on October 6, 2016, for an offence of having forged his academic papers during the 2013 General Election and later released on cash bail Sh300,000.
