Kenyan Footballer Mariga Loses Millions

Kenyan international footballer MacDonald Mariga on Tuesday lost valuables worth millions after suspected burglars gained access to his house.

Initial police investigations revealed that the 29-year-old  Italian-based footballer lost electronic goods and clothes worth Sh2 Million.

According to the police, the incident seems to be an inside job as there were no signs of forceful entry into Mariga's Sh16 Million apartment in Lavington estate.

“Looks like someone has a spare key to the house which he used to gain entrance and took the items,” a police source is quoted by Nairobi News.

A television valued at half a million shillings is among the stolen goods.

At the time of the incident, nobody was in the house as Mariga normally occupies the apartment when he is on holiday. The US Latina club midfielder is expected in the country next week.

Police have launched investigations into the matter.

Last year, Mariga's younger brother Victor Wanyama, who plays for English Premier League Club Southampton FC, also lost property when burglars broke into his England home while he was on club duty.
