Kiambu Residents Spend Sh14 Billion On Alcohol

Kiambu County reportedly spends Sh14 billion on alcohol annually.

According to the National Authority for Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) chairman John Mututho half of the county's adult population drink alcohol.

A report from NACADA reveals that there are more than 450,000 drinkers who spend Sh300 each on booze everyday and with 861,000 registered voters in Kiambu this amounts to more than Sh40 million daily, The Nation reports.

Mututho has attributed Kiambu's declining labor productivity to high alcohol drinking rate.
