Kibaki and Top Kenyan Trends on January 13, 2017

The Kenyan online fraternity is known to be vibrant and vocal, adding their voice to every discussion happening across the country.

Friday was not different as the netizens took to Twitter to discuss some of the hottest topics of the day.

1. Marsabit County

The County scaled up the trends ladder after a photo was shared showing the state of famine that has hit the region. Kenyans went online to discuss the topic calling on the government to move in to salvage the situation.

2. Kibaki

The former President was leading among the top trends after Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, while appearing on a political television interview stated: When Raila Odinga said Kibaki tosha in 2002, Simeon Nyachae literally jumped from his seat.”

Those sharing the statement propelled Kibaki's name to the trends and sparked a debate regarding the former President's administration compared to the current one.

Others also seized the moment to criticise the Jubilee Government accusing it of launching projects that were started during Kibaki's tenure.

3. #UhuruCompletedProjects

As the Jubilee Party prepares to launch its smart membership card, proponents of the government took to Twitter to highlight some of the projects that had been completed by the ruling administration.

Equally, those in the Opposition used the hashtag to mock the government with comical images highlighting some of the projects like the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

4. Lang'ata

Lang'ata Road quickly rose up the trends after reports emerged that two people had died while five others sustained injuries in an accident involving two private cars.

One of the vehicles is said to have lost control near Carnivore restaurant, rammed the other from behind and rolled into a ditch.
