Kibaki Reads Wrong Speech

Former President Mwai Kibaki on Thursday stopped his speech halfway at Safari Park Hotel after realizing that it was for a past event.

Kibaki was attending the launch of the Kenya Intergrated Water Sanitation and Hygiene Project (KIWASH) and Kenya Resilient Arid Lands Partnership for Integrated Development (KRAPID) programmes when the unfortunate incident happened.

It is reported that the former Head of State apologised to those in attendance informing them that the speech was for a previous function.

Kibaki who was a key guest at the launch struggled through his speech and even referred to Nadhif Adan and Ahmed Abdallah as Governors of Garissa and Wajir respectively.

The event was attended by the US Ambassador Bob Godec, Swiss Ambassador Ralf Heckner, Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa among other dignitaries.

The incident amused Kenyans as it came as a reminder of an event, in which Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe read a full speech from a past occasion during the opening of the country's Parliament.
