Kibera Man Kills Lover, Sets Houses on Fire

Police are looking for a man who killed his lover and set several houses on fire in Kibera Slums, Nairobi, following a love triangle dispute.

It is reported that on Wednesday Nicholas Omollo, 39, seriously battered his lover Roselyn Amayo, 35, before setting her and a dozen houses on fire at Laini Saba, Kibra when he found out that Ms Amayo was getting back with her former husband.

Paul Simiyu, a neighbour to the deceased, said an eyewitness saw the dejected lover moving Amayo’s household goods, such as TV and beddings, to his house in the same neighbourhood.

“I arrived at Amayo’s house at 1.30pm but she was not there, shortly after Amayo arrived and started arguing with Omollo why he had taken away the items. The verbal exchange led to physical confrontation and the two locked themselves in,”Simiyu said.

Simuyu added that neighbours rushed to Amayo’s house after they saw fire consuming her house while spreading  to others. He narrated that they managed to access the house after Omollo escaped through the door.

Amayo was rescued but died Sunday morning at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, the Star reports.

Police now suspect that Omollo could be hiding at his home in the Western Kenya region.
