Kisumu East Parliamentary Aspirant Gor Sungu Reports Threats on His Life

An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parliamentary aspirant in Kisumu Town East claims to have been poisoned during his campaigns.

The former Kisumu East MP Gor Sungu, on Saturday, alleged that while he was running his campaigns a week ago, he inhaled suspicious chemical which made him sick.

“Last week as I campaigned in Kolwa, my supporters and I inhaled some suspicious chemicals and 10 of them were taken ill including myself. Today, my situation is worse,” stated Sungu.

He alleged that he had reliable information that one of his competitors for the parliamentary seat, was planning to kill him.

He added that the attempts on his life were related to the probe he conducted as a co-chair of a Parliamentary Select Committee tasked with investigating the death of former Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko.

“My life is in danger and Kenyans should be aware of what is happening,” revealed Sungu.

He pointed out that he had reported the threats to Kondele Police Station, which was confirmed by Nyanza police boss Joseph Keitany.

“We will carry out investigations to ascertain the veracity of the information,” affirmed Keitany.

Gor Sungu is battling it out for the ODM ticket with the incumbent MP Shakeel Shabbir, businessman John Anditi among others.

The party’s nominations will be carried out on April 24.
