KNEC Declares Gatundu South CDF Chairman Robert Githongo KCSE Certificates Forged

Gatundu South Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Chairman, Robert Githongo has been dealt a blow after the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) declared his KCSE certificate forged.

Mr Githongo, who is a Pastor with the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA), was intending to vie for the Kiamwangi Ward seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

KNEC, however, stated that a copy presented by the CDF Boss for verification was acquired from a forged document.

The certificate indicated that Githongo sat for his KCSE exams at Murera Secondary School in 1997 under index number 11235102/008, and scored a mean grade of C+.

Nevertheless, the examinations body dismissed the claims stating that a centre by the name Murera Secondary School under code 11235102 did not exist during the 1997 examinations.

"Kibe Robert Githongo did not register or sit for the year 1997 KCSE examinations at Murera Secondary School under index number 11235102008. Therefore, the purported copy of certificate presented for verification is obtained from a forged document," the letter from KNEC stated.

Jomo Kenyatta University of  Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Romanus Odhiambo also disclosed that Mr Githongo enrolled for a Diploma in County Governance at the University using the same fake certificate.

Mr Romanus highlighted they were conducting investigations and that Githongo's diploma would be nullified if the claims by KNEC were found to be true.

Mr Githongo insisted his secondary school certificate was genuine, adding that his original certificate was with his lawyer, who would submit it to the Jubilee Party.

He claimed these latest developments were by actions by his political rivals who feel threatened by his political ambitions.

The political ambitions of Githongo, who has been the CDF Chairman since 2013, are now hanging in the balance.
