Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu Booed During Uhuru's Tour in Central

Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu was on Monday heckled and booed by rowdy youth during President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour in the Central region.

Trouble began when Deputy President William Ruto called on Mr Irungu to address the gathering at Central Park in Nanyuki where Kenyatta had made a stop.

Before he even uttered a word, a section of youth shouted him down forcing Ruto to grab the microphone and calm the youth down.

Addressing the issue on Tuesday, the Governor claimed that some politicians had paid the youth to embarrass him during Uhuru's tour in the region.

"It is unbelievable that they paid them just to ensure that I was accorded public humiliation in front of the Head of State," the Governor stated.

Mr Irungu claimed that the humiliating act had achieved nothing but only displayed the political immaturity of some politicians.

The Head of State together with his deputy have been in the Central Region for a two-day tour where they have commissioned different projects.
