Legendary Comedian and Actor Laid To Rest in Langata

Vitimbi actor Benson Wanjau, popularly known as Mzee Ojwang Hatari, was laid to rest today at Nairobi’s Langata cemetery.

According to Citizen Digital, his wife Augustus Wanjiru Wanjau had revealed it was Mzee’s wish to be buried at Langata.

Ojwang succumbed to pnuemonia at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The Nation reports that Nairobi senator Mike Sonko offered up his hearses from the Sonko Rescue Team to ferry the body to the burial grounds.

Reports indicate that the funeral was delayed after his body was held at Umash Funeral home over unpaid fees.

The fees were, however, settled.

Celebrities and some politicians had joined his family and friends for a memorial service yesterday, where they celebrated Ojwang’s life.

His body was taken to the Kenya National Theatre where mourners broke into song and dance during the viewing of his body.

The procession made its way to Nyayo Stadium where hundreds had gathered to bid Ojwang goodbye.

Attending leaders and comedians alike lauded Ojwang for his entertaining prowess throughout his career.

He was laid to rest at Langata cemetery.
