Lunga Lunga MP Mwashetani Heckled During Senator Boy Juma Burial as he Delivered Kenyatta's Speech

Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani was on Monday attacked during the burial of Senator Boy Juma Boy when he stood to read President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech in Kwale County.

Mwashetani, who defected from ODM to Jubilee, was to deliver Kenyatta’s condolence message but was unable to do so after angry youth began heckling and booing him.

Mwambweni MP Suleiman Dori tried to intervene but his efforts bore no fruit as the youth continued chanting ODM slogans.

"Whether you like it or not, I am the MP and I know those making the noise are not from Kwale. My people can agree with me and receive the President's message," a defiant Mwashetani stated.

Before the Lunga Lunga MP stood to address the crowd, ODM leader Raila Odinga had earlier criticised him and his Kwale counterpart Salim Mvurya for joining Jubilee.

"Mwashetani and Mvurya joined Jubilee claiming they were going for development but we have seen none so far," Odinga posed.

Other ODM leaders led by Mombasa Governor Hassan joho told the mourners to vote out leaders who had defected to the ruling coalition adding that they were not loyal to the Orange party.

The late Juma Boy died on Sunday at the Agha Khan hospital after a short illness and was buried at his home in Vanga, Kwale.
