Magarini Member of Parliament (MP) Mwalimu Harrison Kombe declaration that he had found a cure for HIV/AIDS has been termed dangerous by the National Aids Control Council (NACC).
NACC Coast Coordinator Julius Koome said the MP’s statements were likely to interfere with efforts to fight against HIV/Aids in Kilifi County and at the same time, jeopardise 20000 people living on Antiretroviral drugs.
Mr Koome added that the MPs statement should be countered.
“His insinuation is similar to the case in The Gambia nine years ago when the then President Yahya Jahmeh claimed [he could] cure HIV. It is well-known that it disrupted (Aids) treatment in The Gambia for years. We are yet to get details of his revelations but this will interfere with our efforts to fight the scourge,” Koome stated.
Last week during a rally, Mr Kombe claimed that he could cure HIV/AIDS virus diagnosed at an early stage using reflexology, a therapeutic cure.
He disclosed that reflexology also cures other illnesses including high blood pressure, stress, kidney failure, infertility and brain tumors.
The former High School Teacher announced that he was in the process of training people on reflexology to create employment.
