Makau Mutua Drags Uhuru, DP Ruto in Duale-Linked Hate Speech

Law professor Makau Mutua has dragged President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in the controversial statements allegedly made by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.

Mr Mutua stated that it was hypocritical for Kenyatta and Ruto to remain silent despite the audio clip, which was calling for the eviction of the Kamba community from Garissa County, stirring public outrage.

The lawyer opined that the Head of State would have had a different stand if the inflammatory utterance had been linked to CORD leader Raila Odinga.

"I am sure Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto would be all over Raila Odinga if he'd said what Aden Duale did. SILENCE. Hypocritical leadership," Mutua said.

Mutua, who has bodly noted that he does not recognise Kenyatta as his President, further mentioned that: "I don't see how Duale can continue to hold public office."

He called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to carry out a probe in the audio recording and arrest the Majority leader.

"The CID, not just NCIC, should probe and arrest Duale for ethnic-cleaning video," Mutua highlighted.

However, Duale has since rubbished the audio clip stating that: "An audio clip in circulation online is fake & crude propaganda. It's the work of a bygone era politician attempting to cook fake news."
