Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr Asks NASA Co-principals to Disband Committee

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr has revealed that efforts by the coordinating committee formed to decide modalities on how to pick the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag-bearer have failed.

Speaking at a morning talk show on Citizen TV, Senator Kilonzo stated that the decision on who should be NASA flag-bearer should now be left to the four co-principals; Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.

“I don’t think where we have reached any progress can be made. Time has come for these people to lock themselves somewhere and make a decision on their own,” said Mutula.

Mutula noted that the Siaya Senator James Orengo-led committee had apparently gotten into some difficulty and it was now incumbent upon the four co-principals to reach a consensus among themselves.

He called for a decisive decision by the four to salvage the situation that was creating an unnecessary anxiety in the Opposition outfit ahead of the August polls.

“They should leave their phones and aides behind because time is not on our side. It is only them who can fix this,” remarked Mutula.

The Wiper vice-chair also downplayed a controversial position taken by Francis Nyenze that issued a seven-day ultimatum to NASA to name Kalonzo Musyoka as its flag-bearer or face a backlash.

Mutula urged the Wiper Party to reign in on Nyenze and demanded that he issues an apology for issuing statements that were not authorised by the party and which caused anxiety to other partners in the coalition.

In a statement, Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar stated that Nyenze’s utterances were unilateral and did not represent those of the party.
