Man Beaten After Throwing Bottle at Mike Sonko in Naivasha

A political rally presided over by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Nakuru Speaker Susan Kihika in Mai Mahiu on Sunday turned chaotic after an angry mob pounced on a man who had hurled a bottle of soda at the Senator.

The police had to step in and save the man as the angry mob descended on him after the bottle he had thrown narrowly missed the senator.

According to a witness, Joseph Njoroge, the man started by throwing a stone at the convoy but it went unnoticed.

Njoroge stated that the victim went further to throw a soda bottle inside a vehicle from which Sonko and Kihika were addressing the people.

“This time round he was spotted. Youths who were offering security turned their fury on him, beating him seriously before he was taken to the police station,” he said.

A senior police officer who declined to be named stated that the suspect bled profusely from several parts of his body.

The officer divulged that the man had been taken to a health centre for examination.
