Man Sharing Name With Parastatal Appointee Lays Claim On The Position

The recent appointment of parastatal heads by president Uhuru Kenyatta continues to raise controversy. In Homabay County, two men sharing the same the same name claim to be the rightful appointees.

Both men go by the name Elisha Akech, the name of the person appointed to head the board of the Rural Electrification Authority.

Veteran politician Elisha Akech Achieng' says the position should have been his, given he is a prominent politician in the region and has worked with other prominent politicians who have been appointed as parastatal chiefs.

According to K24 News both men, apart from sharing the name, come from the same Ndhiwa Constituency.

The gazetted name however states that Engineer Elisha Akech is the new chair of the Rural Electrification Authority indicating that the veteran politician is not the man appointed to the slot.

The politician says the confusion with the names had given him and his family reason to celebrate and now wants the president to appoint him to a different position.
