Martha Karua Responds to Kenyans Calling Her Corrupt

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, has told off those attacking her over the recent revelation by a UK media, which mentioned her in a corruption scandal at the British American Tobacco Company.

Ms Karua urged her critics to read through the whole article by the online news site, Independent News, before throwing stones at her.

“It is difficult to engage anyone who failed to read the whole article and my response,” said Ms Karua in a tweet.

She later added that Kenyans should not to be quick to celebrate in her pain as they were unfounded and vague.

“Do not celebrate my pain too early I shall be vindicated,” she tweeted.

The media report accused Ms Karua of receiving Sh7.6 Million (£50,000) in a bid to block a rival firm from winning a multimillion-pound contract.

The bribe which was termed as a political donation when Karua was vying for the presidency in 2013, was allegedly meant to prevent a competing company from supplying technology to combat cigarette smuggling.

It is said that in return for the secret donations paid in cash via a middle man, BAT obtained key confidential Kenyan Revenue Authority (KRA) documents outlining the Sh15.2 Billion five-year contract for new technology, designed to end tobacco smuggling. The company then had the contract cunningly delayed, while it secretly pushed to get its own system chosen.
