Members of County Assembly in Embu County have reportedly resorted to using unusual means to woo voters and ensure they regain their positions come next year's General Election.
Speaking in the Assembly, Runyenjes-Central MCA Steve Simba disclosed that some of the MCAs were volunteering to dig graves in order to get an opportunity to address residents.
Mr Steve Simba narrated how some of his counterparts were going to the extent of attending baby showers which are mainly women-affairs as well as participating in market clean-ups.
“Mr Speaker...I just wanted to inform you of some of the survival techniques that I have seen some of my colleagues using. Grave-digging is one of them as well as town cleaning and sweeping,” Mr. Simba quoted by the Standard.
Kyeni South MCA Salesio Kimaru backed Mr Simba's sentiments and alleged that one of his colleagues walked barefoot at a previous event in a bid to display solidarity with the residents.
Mr Kimaru also recollected how an Assembly member had been threatened by angry locals for sneaking into their wives' dance practice sessions as part of his political strategy.
The MCAs are reportedly in fear that they might not be re-elected next year, as their performances have been deemed average hence have resulted to unpopular means to persuade voters.
