Men in Bui Bui Reign Terror in Mombasa

A man believed to be part of a gang that dresses in bui bui to pass for women in Mombasa has been arrested.

The suspect, Jamal Ahmed Abubakar is believed to be one of the two bui bui clad men who raided a bank in Mombasa.

He was arrested after police raided his house in Old Town estate, Mombasa.

The police found three bui buis three sartorial hijabs (Ninja) and an assortment of crude weapons.

According to a report by Citizen News, Mombasa OCPD Robert Kitur confirmed that the police were investigating the possibility of the suspect having had a hand in the killing of an intelligence officer last week.

The senior National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer, Hashim Omar died on Thursday after being shot five times by two assailants.

The arrest follows an alert given by police in the area concerning the rise in criminal activities by the bui bui gang.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Coast Regional Police Commandant Robert Kitur confirmed the existence of a gang that seems to be targeting officers of the law in the area.

According to The Nation, the police gave the names of two wanted suspects-Ismael Mohammed Soshi and Mohammed Ramadhan- alias Rambo.

They asked members of the public, especially those living in the Old Town to give police information concerning the whereabouts of the two.

'Rambo' has been linked to possible recruitment of youth into Al Shabaab while Soshi is believed to be an Al Shabaab trainee-turned-robber.

The police have warned residents to be on the look out for the cleverly disguised gangsters.
