Kisumu Senator Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o was caught up in the fracas that ensued during a political rally in Migori County and a photo of him trying to seek refuge surfaced online.
In the photo, Nyong’o is seen hiding under what appears like a segment of the dais and is surrounded by his security men.
Trouble started when Migori County Governor Okoth Obado stormed the meeting as the Kisumu Senator was addressing the crowd.
Obado was heckled and booed by the crowd and within a few minutes, gunshots could be heard as everyone scampered for safety.
Nyong’o was quickly whisked away by his bodyguards to a safer place and the photo, which did rounds on social media, drew widespread reaction.
One Facebook user took the opportunity to question the professor's bravery, asking whether that is how he plans to 'okoa' Kenya.
Another user said the chaos was expected because a D- material (Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho) was visiting an area populated with As.
Leaders from the opposition claimed that the chaos were masterminded by their rivals from the Jubilee Party and condemned the attack on Joho's vehicle as archaic.
