Moi University Fights Order to Close Law School

Moi University has sued the Kenyan Council of Legal Education (CLE) challenging a decision by the Council to close down its school of law.

The suit which was filed under a certificate of urgency comes after the legal council cracked the whip ordering several universities to stop teaching law.

Law students from the Annex campus had earlier on threatened to take action for what they termed as defamation by CLE.

They had given an ultimatum for the board to apologize to the University failure to which they would seek legal redress over the matter.

CLE instructed Moi University to stop admitting more students and provide a comprehensive closure plan indicating how students would be transferred to accredited schools.

The institution failed to be accredited for not meeting the required standards in terms of infrastructure and resources.
