Mombasa Senatorial Aspirant (Kongowea MCA) Jabess Oduor Arrested

A Mombasa County Senatorial aspirant, who is also the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kongowea Ward, was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly causing chaos at a polling station in Nyali.

Mr  Jabess Oduor is accused of inciting supporters and causing chaos at the Wiper Democratic Movement party nominations that were taking place in Mombasa on Tuesday.

The Officer Commanding Police Division in Nyali, Mr Lucas Ogara, confirmed the incident stating that the MCA was arrested at Furaha Primary School for incitement and causing chaos at the polling station.

Mr Oduor recently joined Wiper from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) citing fears of being rigged out in the ODM nominations.

His arrest comes only two days after Wiper Secretary-General Hassan Omar issued a stern warning to all aspirants, noting that the party will not tolerate violence and that anyone caught engaging in violence will be disqualified.

He also urged the police to severely punish all aspirants who would cause chaos during the nominations.

Jabess will be arraigned in court on Wednesday where his case will be mentioned.
