A 13 year-old girl was set ablaze by her own mother in Likuyani Kakamega County for misusing a cup of maize flour put aside for dinner.
The class seven pupil is said to have taken the maize flour and fried it to prepare what is popularly known as 'mkarango' when her mother found her. The girl was brutally battered before her mother spouted kerosine on her then set her on fire.
The victim was admitted at the Kitale County Hospital and according to the nurse in charge, she sustained 13 percent superficial burns including severe burns on her private part.
The police are yet to arrest the mother who is reportedly on the run.
