MP Blames Driver For Bhang and Heroine Found In His Lorry

Lamu West Member of Parliament Julius Ndegwa has shifted blame to the driver of his lorry, after it was found carrying 390 rolls of bhang and 24 sachets of heroin.

The lorry was impounded in Mpeketoni, Lamu County.

The driver of the lorry was stopped by police at Witu who searchedi the vehicle in a routine security check.

The drugs were hidden among 200 bags of cement that was being transported from Malindi to Mokowe.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke the MP said he was indeed the owner of the lorry, but distanced himself from the haul found in the vehicle.

He denied any knowledge of the narcotics being transferred in the lorry and called on the speedy prosecution of those involved.

He added that the lorry usually carries goods to different parts of the country.

The driver of the lorry Martin Mureithi Njuguna and two other occupants Joseph Gathunga Mbugua and Geoffrey Kahuki Kanyingi were arrested and escorted to Mpeketoni Police Station.

The lorry was taken to the police station pending investigations.
