MP Threatens to Urinate in Ndakaini Dam

A Member of Parliament has threatened to rally his constituents and lead them to pee on the waters of the Ndakaini Dam, to protest shortage of water in Murang'a County.

Speaking on Monday in Ndakaini, Gatanga lawmaker Humphrey Njuguna said he could “mobilise his constituents to urinate into the dam as it did not help them at all”.

According to the locals, they have endured water shortage for a long time despite the region hosting the biggest dam that supplies water to Nairobi and its environs.

Njuguna lamented that the dam was not helping them, terming it a 'historical injustice' since 85% of the people could not access clean water, Citizen Digital reports.

David Mukuna, a resident, echoed the legislator's view stating that some of their cows died in March due to lack of water.

The Nairobi and Murang'a County Governments have for long tussled over the supply of water from the Ndakaini Dam.

Last year Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura, argued that instead of tapping water and pumping it to the capital, the county government ought to be allowed develop the infrastructure so that Nairobi residents paid for the water.
