Faithfuls who fellowship at the Nyaguku Catholic Church in Nyamira have woken up to a sad Monday morning.
This is after thieves reportedly broke into their church after service on Sunday night and got away with all the church equipment, including instruments.
Images seen by Kenyans.co.ke seemingly show how the thugs made it into the church by prying the metal bars on a window.
However, the church pews, the priest's dais, and other furniture in the church remained untouched.
As of the time of the publication of this article, the suspects in the theft have yet to be identified or captured by police officers.
The total cost of the stolen equipment is also yet to be determined.
This is just the latest of a church being raided by thieves in what has now become a popular crime, with some robbers even getting away with items worth hundreds of thousands.
In 2023, a group of 10 burglars broke into Deliverance Church in Elburgon on a Wednesday morning and stole equipment estimated to be worth between Ksh350,000 and Ksh400,000.
While speaking to Kenyans.co.ke at the time, the church pastor relayed that the burglary happened between the hours of 2am and 4am.
In that incident, the robbers similarly gained entrance into the church by breaking a windowpane, after which they made away with the equipment.
“The Church’s security guard was manning a different area of the compound, where he was checking on the Girls’ Home. He, however, found the thieves trying to disconnect the church’s drumming system and raised the alarm," the pastor said.
However, they succeeded in making away with a keyboard, a mixer, and 2 amplifiers despite the interruption. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
