A section of Members of Parliament (MPs) and other prominent individuals are set to join a campaign team seeking to cook chapatis for street children in Nairobi at Moi Avenue Primary School next Saturday.
Among the legislators who will participate in the voluntary fundraiser campaign organised by State House Director of Digital Communications Denis Itumbi, include Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja.
While urging the public to attend the event, Itumbi asked participants to come with their rolling pins to spin the chapatis alongside other people of different professions.
“When you watch great guys like Clinton the Chef, Moses was Stew, Power house, MPs, Senators, Women Reps, lawyers, doctors, journalists, police, businessmen, etc in action you suddenly realize that there are people willing to do all that it takes to make the simplest of events work,” posted Itumbi on Facebook.
The event, which coincides with the blogger's birthday, is aimed at listening to street families and identifying talent among them. The initiative will also be seeking to bridge the gaps between the communities.
“After the day we will start off a #ChapatiMovement owned by all of us. One that can unite communities. One that can be hosted just to have conversations, one that can be used to seek answers and most importantly one that allows just to cook Chapos,” Itumbi stated.
