MPs Want Terror Attack Victims Paid Sh5 Million in Compensation

Members of Parliament from the Central Kenya region want the government to pay Sh5 million to each victim of terror attacks.

The MPs were speaking in Nairobi where they said they had withdrawn a censure motion against leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale.

The MPS had given Duale a deadline to produce names of individuals said to be carrying out attacks in the North Eastern region, failure to which they would bring a censure motion against him in parliament.

The MPs had said that North Eastern region leaders, led by Duale should be able to name the perpetrators of the attacks that left several quarry members dead, most of whom were from Nyeri County.

According to Citizen Tv, the MPs now want to substitute the censure motion with a Bill that seeks compensation for victims of terror attacks.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega said they withdrew the motion after extensive discussions, and instead came up with the bill which they said would be more beneficial to the victims.

He added that the bill will also serve to compel the government to take extra measures in ensuring safety of all Kenyans wherever they are.
