NTV reports that the mass funeral at the Chaka Stadium is the third of its kind to be held in the county following terror attacks in the North Eastern region.

Last year, 16 men from Nyeri suffered the same fate when Al Shabaab attacked Mandera’s Koromey quarry killing 36 people.

Yesterday’s funeral had attending leaders criticizing the government over security in the country.

K24 quotes Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru calling on North Eastern region leaders to come up with a list of suspected Al Shabaab militants in the area.

Tetu MP Ndung’u Gethenji on his part asked Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery to impose a curfew on the attack prone areas.

Among the leaders who attended the burial were Nyeri senator Mutahi Kagwe, Mathira MP Peter Weru and Water and Irrigation CS Eugene Wamalwa.
