Musalia Mudavadi Distances Himself From 2013 MoU Between Raila and Kalonzo

Amani National Congress (ANC) Leader Musalia Mudavadi has responded to calls by Wiper Party that the National Super Alliance (NASA) considers a 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) when selecting its presidential candidate.

Speaking during a meeting at his party's headquarters in Nairobi, Mudavadi stated that he would not comment on the matter since he was not part of the MOU reportedly signed between ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka.

“I was not part of the agreement signed by Cord parties so I cannot comment on it,” Mudavadi asserted.

Mudavadi was addressing the press minutes moments after Wiper gave NASA a one-week ultimatum to name Musyoka as its presidential flag bearer failure to which the party would go it alone in the August election.

National Assembly Minority Leader and Kitui Member of Parliament Francis Nyenze maintained that the Agreement which advocated that Musyoka becomes the Opposition's presidential candidate in 2017 be implemented.

The MoU has since been dismissed by a section of ODM leaders as a gentleman's agreement which was not binding.

On Tuesday, more than 10 leaders from the Ukambani region declared their support for the former Vice President indicating that he was the best candidate to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming polls.
