Kenyan singer Frasha of the P-Unit group has announced that he will be vying for a Member of County (MCA) seat in Athi River, Machakos County.

While making the declaration on Monday, Frasha urged eligible voters to turn out and register in large numbers in Athi River township.

“I have been thinking and praying that the good lord gives me the strength to take on the challenge to bring better leadership to my home Town.”

“And today I want to start a journey with the trust of Gods guidance and the power of the vote that I will become the next MCA  Athiriver Township so go out and get registered. For AthiRiver a new dawn is here,” Frasha wrote on his Instagram page.

The singer, however, did not disclose which party he would be vying on.

Frasha now joins a growing list of musicians who are eyeing political seats in the upcoming August 8 Election.

Other artistes who have announced their candidatures include DJ Kaytrixx, who will be vying for the Mikindani ward seat in Mombasa and popular Kikuyu gospel musician Loise Kim, who is seeking to be the next Kiambu Woman Representative on a Jubilee ticket.
