Mutahi Ngunyi: I Apologize To The Luo Nation

Political Analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has apologized to the luo community over controversial  twitter posts he made recently.

The posts by Ngunyi, sparked an online storm after the remarks were tagged as amounting to hate speech.

The string of posts on his twitter handle included among others: "Raila should be put on TRIAL.The JUDGE: poverty stricken LUOs. And LUHYAs craving his bondage. CHARGE: selfishness, selfishness, selfishness"

The political analyst's twitter posts, which were mainly targetting Raila Odinga, prompted the Law Society of Kenya to present a petition to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to have Nguyi arrested and questioned over the alleged hate speech remarks.

Mutahi wrote an apology on his twitter handle which read, "I apologize to the LUO NATION unreservedly. No harm INTENDED. I am a product of Luo SCHOLARS whom I RESPECT immensely. I eat the HUMBLE PIE."

LSK CEO Apollo Mboya in a tweet, however, said that the apology will be used in mitigation and sentencing in the case.

Ngunyi is known to be upfront with his political views and has previously been on the spot for making hard hitting comments against Mr Odinga.
