My Child is Well Taken Care Of - DP Ruto Says

Deputy President William Ruto has responded to allegations that emerged on Thursday after a woman identified as Prisca Chemutai Bett sued him for child support.

Through his twitter account, Ruto refuted the claims that he had neglected an 11-year old child he sired with Ms Bett.

“My 11-year-old child Abby is well catered for including her education in private boarding school. Politicians& Busybodies should keep off,” Mr Ruto affirmed.

On Thursday, Bett moved to the Children's Court in Nairobi claiming that the DP had neglected a minor who he fathered with her.

In the case filed by her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, the plaintiff presented the case under a certificate of urgency seeking that the case be heard expeditiously.

In the lawsuit seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Ms Bett claims that:

1. The defendant (Ruto) has failed/refused/neglected to provide the minor with adequate and-or basic necessities such as good health, food, school fees, decent clothing, shelter and medication.

2.The minor is in dire need of and is entitled to basic necessities since the plaintiff/mother is not able to adequately provide for her.

3. The defendant has totally eschewed and/or neglected his parental responsibility as demanded of him under the Constitution of Kenya.

The woman expressed that unless the case was heard urgently, the 11-year old would continue to “suffer irreparable loss to healthy growth and educational development.”
