NARC To Decide Whether to Support NASA or Jubilee - Charity Ngilu Says

NARC party leader Charity Ngilu has caused confusion among the opposition leaders after she announced that her party was yet to decide whether to support Jubilee or the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Speaking on Sunday, Ngilu said that it was difficult to commit to either Jubilee or NASA since they lack a clear manifesto ahead of the August 8 election.

“Kenyans are interested in being told how the next government intends to improve their lives. How can we commit to support a side whose plans we have not seen?” She posed.

Ngilu, who is eyeing the Kitui gubernatorial seat, had last month expressed her support for NASA which is being championed by ODM leader Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka.

The former lands minister had even said that she would back Kalonzo's bid if he clinched the NASA presidential ticket.

“There is no doubt that among the three CORD principals, Kalonzo has all it takes to send the Jubilee administration home, given his unblemished profile,” Ngilu said.

According to reports, Ngilu even contributed one member in the team of 12 that is working on structures and selection of a joint Opposition presidential candidate for NASA to be unveiled at the end of February.

Ngilu’s announcement now means there is a possibility that she could still join Jubilee despite warming up to the Opposition.
